Keeping Barbs in the Aquarium

This group includes a wide range of shapes, sizes and colours, making them suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists. They should always be kept in groups of at least five, with larger groups producing more natural behaviour and reducing stress.

Are Barbs Fin Nippers?

These fish are often given a bad reputation as fin nippers, particularly species such as Tiger Barbs. In most cases, this behaviour is caused by incorrect stocking rather than temperament. When kept in proper numbers and suitable conditions, they are active, confident fish rather than aggressive ones.
