Healthy aquariums with conditions close to nature
The right water values are dependent on the fish stock and the plants in the aquarium. Even if the water looks clear it can be contaminated. With bad values diseases or algae can appear in the aquarium. To maintain a healthy aquarium with conditions close to nature it is important to check and adapt the water values regularly.
For each water analysis JBL provides water tests in the form of quick tests or colour change tests. These determine a certain value or several values in one go. With these water tests you can recognise algae problems and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium values etc.
Why test?
Carbon dioxide is the most important plant nutrient. The optimal value lies between 20-25 mg/l. This level is harmless for fish and ensures thriving plant growth.
JBL ProFlora Co2 Bottle U 500g x3 Disposable is a convenient and user-friendly solution for supplying carbon dioxide to planted aquariums. Designed for aquatic enthusiasts, this CO2 bottle is part of the JBL ProFlora CO2 system, which helps in fostering healthy plant growth by providing essential CO2 for photosynthesis.
Most importantly, The JBL ProFlora U500 Disposable CO2 Bottle is designed to be safe for use in fish tanks when used according to the manufacturer’s instructions and appropriate testing and monitoring. So you can cultivate your showstopper tank without worry.
The U500 bottle typically contains 500 grams of pressurized CO2, providing a decent supply for smaller to medium-sized aquariums, depending on the CO2 demand of the plants and tank size.
Its user-friendly design makes it easy to install and being disposable it is easy to replace. The connection to the CO2 diffuser or reactor is straightforward, and the system is generally simple to set up and operate. The Bottle is designed to work seamlessly with other components of the JBL ProFlora CO2 system, including diffusers, reactors, and CO2 control units. For effective CO2 distribution, it’s recommended to use in conjunction with a CO2 regulator or controller. This allows for precise control and monitoring of CO2 levels in the aquarium, preventing overdosing or under-dosing. Helping you to achieve that centrepiece dream scape you have been wanting.
Using JBL ProFlora Co2 Bottle U 500g x3 Disposable in aquariums can act as a turbo boost for plant growth and enhance the overall ecosystem. CO2 is a critical component of photosynthesis. By increasing the concentration of CO2 in the water, you’re providing plants with a vital element they require for their growth. Enhanced CO2 levels help plants metabolize nutrients more efficiently, leading to faster growth rates, increased biomass, and healthier foliage.
CO2 helps plants develop stronger roots and encourages the growth of thicker and fuller. This can create a more natural and lush appearance in the aquarium. Increased CO2 levels promote lateral shoots and branch development, resulting in bushier and more vibrant plants, compared to those without CO2 supplementation. This helps to fill the tank space more effectively, creating a visually stunning aquascape.
With CO2 supplementation, you can expand the variety of plants you can successfully grow in your aquarium. Many demanding or high-light plants require higher CO2 levels to thrive. Plants that might otherwise struggle or fail to grow in a low-CO2 environment can flourish, enabling aquarists to create diverse and visually appealing aquascapes.
Healthy plants produce: oxygen, absorb harmful substances, and provide shelter or food, promoting a thriving biotope.
Balancing CO2 levels effectively can help inhibit algae growth. When plants thrive due to optimal CO2 levels, they can outcompete algae for nutrients and light, reducing the likelihood of algae taking over the aquarium. Cutting down on your maintenance time and keeping your tank looking amazing.
Additionally, healthy plant growth, achieved with JBL ProFlora Co2 Bottle U 500g x3 Disposable, helps to shade the substrate, limiting excess light. This can also keep your algae level down but also offers excellent hiding spots and shelters for fish and other inhabitants. These spaces serve as safe havens where fish can retreat when they feel stressed or threatened.
The presence of abundant plant life mimics the natural habitats of many fish species found in rivers, streams, and lakes. This environment encourages natural behaviours seen in the wild, such as foraging or exploring. Various plant structures, like broad leaves, dense stems, and intricate root systems, provide diverse hiding places, which is crucial for small or timid fish, fry, or invertebrates that may be vulnerable to larger tank mates.
Fish feel more at ease in an environment that replicates their natural habitat. They may exhibit more natural swimming patterns, territorial behaviours, and breeding activities in a well-planted tank.
JBL ProFlora Co2 Taifun Glass Maxi: Ideal nutrition delivery for plants
Having the right CO2 concentration in the water is hugely important for aquarium plants. Carbon dioxide is the plants’ main nutrient and serves to promote their full development. Plants use CO2 for photosynthesis, and this supplies the water with essential oxygen. Plants prevent algae growth, remove pollutants, provide hiding places, and reduce germs.
Efficient enrichment of the aquarium water with CO2: The diffuser contains a special diaphragm through which the CO2 diffuses into the aquarium water. The very small CO2 bubbles dissolve very well in the aquarium water.
Tailfun glass diffusers come in 3 sizes:
Mini Tailfun: for aquariums from 40-120 l, 72 mm high, 37 mm wide without the suction cups, 25 mm diameter of the diffuser.
Midi Tailfun: for aquariums from 40-300 l, 76 mm high, 42 mm wide without the suction cups, 30.5 mm diameter of the diffuser.
Maxi Tailfun: for aquariums from 160-800 l, 90 mm high, 58 mm wide without the suction cups, 40 mm diameter of the diffuser.
Nutrition for aquarium plants
plants provide the aquarium with vital oxygen for the aquarium dwellers, prevent algae growth, remove pollutants, provide hiding places and reduce pathogens. The jbl plant fertiliser systems supply the plants with the main nutrient co2 through the water. They absorb this through their leaves.
easy to install
the system comes completely ready for connection. Screw the pressure reducer onto the co2 storage cylinder. Connect the pressure reducer with the hose to the diffuser in the aquarium. The co2 enters the aquarium and is dissolved in the water by the diffuser. The co2 supply can be interrupted at night by adding a timer to the solenoid valve (not included).
safe
the storage cylinder is t?v tested and is equipped with an overpressure relief. Thanks to the check valve no water can enter the cylinder. The enclosed stand prevents the cylinder from falling over. The capacity of a co2 system depends on various factors. The carbonate hardness, the quantity and species of the plants and the strength of the water surface movement are decisive. A 500 g cylinder which is not switched off by a solenoid valve during the night lasts with its default adjustment for up to 4 months.
